Hotel Adriatic  

Centre-of-town settings don't come much better than this. For starters, the Hotel Adriatic looks out over the beautiful St Nicholas harbour – a lively spot which dates back to the 17th-century. It's also just footsteps away from Rovinj's shops, bars and restaurants, and a five-minute boat trip from the nearest beach on St. Katarina Island. But central doesn't mean noisy. Because the hotel sits within the town's pedestrian zone, it's got a calm, laid-back vibe.

The whole place has been thoughtfully designed to maximise the great surroundings – breakfast is served on a large, waterside terrace, and all rooms come with harbour views. The hotel itself is the oldest in Rovinj. From the outside it's all cream walls, terracotta roofs and arched windows. Inside, the scene is elegant yet modern. Think glossy floors, contemporary lighting and plenty of cosy seating areas.

Food-wise, there's a waterfront cafe which serves up drinks and snacks throughout the day, and a main restaurant which does big, international buffets.

Last but not least, the hotel's 27 bedrooms combine comfort and style. Decor-wise, neutral walls and wooden fittings sit alongside bright soft furnishings. They all come with either two or three beds, as well as air-conditioning and satellite TVs, too.
