If you're a traditionalist, holidays in Calahonda may not float your boat. But if you're not worried about being surrounded by ancient churches or quaint, old white-washed houses, then you'll get as much out of this well equipped resort as you will out of any seaside holiday haunt. It all boils down to this: in the best tradition of the Costa Del Sol, holidays in Calahonda are first and foremost about relaxing on the beach by day and partying by night.
When it comes to accommodation in Calahonda, self catering holidays are the main event. It's worth watching out for bargain holidays, but Calahonda is popular with the golfing set, so late deals tend to be few and far between. Typical Calahona properties include Casa Chica I and II, neighbouring villas situated on a private estate. They've got their own swimming pools, set in sweet little gardens with manicured lawns. Not to mention all the home comforts like a washing machine, microwave, dishwasher, TV and DVD.
Travel to Calahonda and you won't be short of things to do. There's mucho to keep you fed, watered and 'funned up', including sports facilities, bars, restaurants, clubs and the El Zoco shopping centre. You're also not far from the jet set resorts of Marbella and Fuengirola, where you can sit in a seafront cafe and do some celeb spotting. Alternatively, for a more authentic Andalucian experience, head into the hills to the ancient 'pueblo' town of Mijas.
